Shubman Gill New Captain Of Gujarat Titans

Following the official transfer of original captain Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans have appointed Shubman Gill as their captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Gujarat Titans Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki expressed confidence in Gill’s leadership abilities, citing his impressive progress as both a batsman and a leader over the last two years. Gill’s impressive contributions on the field played a key role in Gujarat Titans winning in 2022 and a strong performance in 2023. Solanki stressed Gill’s maturity and skills, expressing his excitement about starting a new journey under the guidance of the young leader.

Upon the announcement, Shubman Gill expressed his happiness and pride at taking over the captaincy and thanked the franchise for their trust. He is looking forward to leading the team with an exciting brand of cricket after two exceptional seasons with Gujarat Titans.

Gill, who played 33 matches for Titans in the last two IPL seasons, scored an impressive 1373 runs. Despite his excellent contribution of 890 runs in 16 games, the franchise finished runners-up in 2023 after winning the title in its first season in 2022.

Pandya has played 92 games for Mumbai Indians in seven seasons, contributing over 1400 runs and taking 42 wickets.
