The replica measures 12 meters in height and stands on a 1.2-meter platform, boasting four minarets that reach a height of 14 meters each. Its width spans nearly 33 meters, although it is considerably smaller than the original Taj Mahal, which towers at approximately 60 meters on a 6.7-meter platform, with minarets standing at nearly 42 meters tall.
Reflecting on his motivation, Dawood shared, “I loved her immensely. When she suddenly passed away, I couldn’t bear the thought of leaving her in a cemetery. My brother and I envisioned building a memorial to express our boundless love and affection for her.” Dawood’s mother, Jailani Bibi, had faced tremendous hardships after losing her husband when she was only 36 years old. She single-handedly raised her six children, including Dawood, four daughters, and her foster son, Mohammed Abdul Khadar. With unwavering dedication, she selflessly sacrificed her life to care for her family and manage her late husband’s business.
Following his mother’s passing in 2020, Dawood sought the expertise of engineers and architects to choose a design that closely resembled the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. The Taj Mahal was constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a magnificent memorial for his beloved wife, Mumtaz Begum. In line with his vision, Dawood selected white marble to honor his mother’s pure heart, as she epitomized kindness, generosity, and compassion. He emphasized, “She taught us the importance of helping the less fortunate, providing food to those in need, and living with sincerity, discipline, and confidence.”
The construction of this extraordinary building commenced in 2021, involving over 200 laborers, half of whom were migrants from Rajasthan. After months of meticulous work, the mausoleum was completed last month and opened to the public on June 2. It comprises three sections: Ms. Bibi’s tomb, a mosque, and a madrassa.
