Virat Kohli Is Taking An Indefinite Break From ODI And T20 Cricket. Will Rohit Sharma Play? According To Reports.

Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Career Future Update

It is unlikely that Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli will be selected for the white-ball portion of the country’s tour of South Africa. On the other hand, captain Rohit Sharma’s involvement is still unclear.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly been notified by Virat Kohli that he will not be available for selection in white-ball matches indefinitely. It follows that he will undoubtedly not play in South Africa. Additionally, according to The Indian Express, which cited a BCCI source, he will not be included in the squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January. Kohli will play two Test matches against South Africa, but he will only be used in red-ball cricket.

“He (Kohli) has informed the BCCI and selectors that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and he will get back to them about when he wants to play white-ball cricket next. At the moment he has informed the BCCI that he will be playing red-ball cricket, which means he is available for selection for the two Test matches in South Africa,” the source said.

Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma

The availability of India captain Rohit Sharma for the white-ball portion of the tour to South Africa is still unknown. It should be mentioned that since Team India’s loss in the semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, neither Kohli nor Rohit have played for the Indian team in T20 cricket.

In order to give them another chance to win the ICC trophy, which was held in India, cricket fans are still holding out hope that these legendary players from Indian cricket will return in the T20 World Cup of the following year. This seems unfeasible given the circumstances.
